Astrobiology Sites Location Map
Location and Site Data
Using NASA Astrobiology Sites location data, characteristics can be represented for any
given site, and presented on a thematic map.
Thematic maps use
symbols to represent the data characteristics of a particular location as well as
broader area comparisons.
Each symbol represents the data characteristics for a given site occurring within a bounding
polygon such as a Zip Code or Census tract. The symbol to data ratio is revealed by clicking
a symbol to view the underlying characteristic data.
The 65 by 42 inch vinyl map (see Figure 1 below) of NASA Astrobiology Institute sites
was produced using Location Analytics features of

NASA Astrobiology Conference 2006 in Washington, D.C.
